Safety & Beautification
Safety and cleanliness are at the core of our revitalization efforts. We will:
- Collaborate with Milwaukee Police District Four and the Milwaukee County Sheriff Department to enhance safety initiatives and education.
- Utilize contracted security services for patrols, event security, and business engagement to ensure safety and address concerns like speeding, red-light violations, and litter.
- Partner with River Works for year-round litter removal and quick response to dumping issues.
- Maintain corridors and beautify the district with flowers and landscaping.
- Decorate the corridors to create a festive, community-oriented atmosphere during the holidays.
- Continue providing Security Camera Grants to businesses in the district.
Economic Retention and Expansion
Our efforts to retain and grow businesses include:
- Celebrating the opening of the Granville Connection at 8633 W. Brown Deer Rd., an entrepreneurial hub supporting local entrepreneurs, craftsmen, artisans and chefs.
- Offering supervisor and advanced supervisor training, inclusion courses, and hosting events with thought leaders to foster innovation.
- Expanding the Granville Cares grant program to inspire and beautify local small businesses.
- Hosting job fairs, workforce development initiatives, and collaborations with local schools and organizations like the Center for Teaching Entrepreneurship to prepare future workers and leaders.
- Engaging businesses in community building through regular business chats and networking events.
Marketing & Promotion
We will continue to brand Granville as a safe, vibrant, and inclusive community poised for growth. Our marketing efforts will include:
- Expanding the weekend Blues Fest to Granville Blues Jam Saturdays: Summer Under the Ten , HotRods & Harvest Fest, and Granville Holiday Village to showcase our diversity and community spirit.
- Developing new events and campaigns that highlight Granville’s energy and opportunities.
Community Building
Connecting businesses to the community remains a priority:
- Partnering and collaborating with community organizations and associations to strengthen ties and create a sense of unity.
- Collaborating with 4th District Faith-Based Organizations to foster relationships and support community initiatives.
- Continuing community outreach.
Administrative and Strategic Development
- Contracting with Ritz Holman for financial management and 10-year strategic planning for the BID and GEDC.
- Working on succession planning to identify and prepare the next generation of Granville leaders.
- Beginning the process of expanding the BID to encompass 124th Street and all of Granville.
